Child Safety Standards
YiCircle is a place for adults to find people who share their interests and make plans together nearby. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). These standards apply everywhere on YiCircle: profiles, posts, comments, photos, messages, group chats, events, buddy posts, communities, and listings.
YiCircle is for adults
You must be at least 18 years old to use YiCircle. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up, and we do not let anyone younger create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
What is not allowed
We prohibit any content or behavior that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children, including:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any photo, video, drawing, text, or AI-generated content that depicts or sexualizes a minor.
- Grooming: befriending or contacting a minor with the aim of sexual contact or exploitation, through messages, events, buddy posts, or anywhere else.
- Sexual solicitation of minors: asking a minor for sexual images, a sexual conversation, or a meeting with a sexual purpose.
- Sextortion: threatening to share sexual images of a minor, or pressuring a minor into producing them.
- Trafficking: advertising, arranging, or facilitating the sexual exploitation or trafficking of a minor.
- Sharing or seeking any of the above, including links to it elsewhere, even as a joke or to "warn" others.
How we keep it off YiCircle
- We filter. Images are checked on your device before upload on iOS, and again on our servers with automated moderation. Text posted to public areas is checked automatically as well.
- Child-safety reports come first. When content is reported as a child-safety concern, it is hidden from everyone straight away, and the report goes to the top of our review queue. We review it within 24 hours.
- You can block. Blocking someone stops them from messaging you, seeing your content, or interacting with you. Open their profile and choose Block.
How to report
- In the app: every profile, post, comment, message, event, and listing has a report option. Tap the "..." menu on the item, choose Report, and pick the child-safety reason where it is offered.
- By email: write to safe@yicircle.com with the profile or link involved. Please do not download, screenshot, or forward abusive images themselves: sharing them is a crime in many places, even when the purpose is to report them.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first (911 in the United States).
- You can also report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.
What we do
When we find, or are told about, child sexual abuse or exploitation on YiCircle, we:
- hide the content from everyone and keep it as evidence, as the law requires, rather than simply deleting it;
- permanently ban the accounts involved, without warning;
- report apparent child sexual abuse material to NCMEC, as United States law requires; and
- cooperate with law enforcement and respond to valid legal requests.
Contact
Our designated point of contact for child safety is safe@yicircle.com. The people who read it can speak to how we prevent child sexual abuse material and how we comply with child safety laws.
